The second leg in London is scheduled for May 7.

At stake is a place in the Conference League final in Leipzig, Germany on May 27.

The match in Kraków has been given enhanced security status, with police reinforcements from other Polish cities and a contingent of British officers supporting local authorities.

Fan groups will be monitored en route to the stadium, after the game and in the city centre, particularly around Kraków's historic Main Market Square.

For Crystal Palace, currently 13th in the Premier League, the match marks the club's first European semifinal.

Shakhtar, meanwhile, previously reached the final four of the Europa League in the 2019/2020 and 2015/2016 seasons and won the 2008/2009 UEFA Cup, defeating Dynamo Kyiv in the semifinals and Werder Bremen in the final.

Shakhtar have been unable to host European matches in Ukraine and have been displaced from their home city of Donetsk in the east of the country since the start of Russian aggression in 2014.
